The Turrialba volcano is located in the central part of Costa Rica, in the Turrialba Volcano National Park. It has recently become explosive (during 2016 and 2017). Some people believe that the name comes from the Spaniards that named it 'Torre Alba' (white tower) for its appearance, however there is no consensus regarding the name's origin.
