Estimating Bad Debts:
In estimating bad debts using the aging of receivables, accounts receivable are segregated based on the age of the accounts then multiply by the percentage expected to be doubtful. This product computed will be the adjusted balance of the allowance for doubtful accounts. Bad debts to be recognized is determined by deducting from the adjusted allowance its beginning balance.
