Skeletal System:
In the human body the skeletal system is composed of 206 bones. These bones are separated into the axial skeleton and the appendicular skeleton according to their location and function. The axial skeleton consists of the 80 bones that are located in the head, neck and trunk, including the vertebral column. The appendicular skeleton consists of the remaining 126 bones that are located in the upper and lower limbs, and their attachment sites to the trunk, called the pectoral and pelvic girdles.
