What organs are in the LUQ?
Question:
What organs are in the LUQ?
Quadrants of the Abdomen
The abdomen is divided into four quadrants. These quadrants are: the right upper quadrant (RUQ), left upper quadrant (LUQ), right lower quadrant (RLQ) and left lower quadrant (LLQ).
Internal Organs:
- Most of the body's internal organs are located in the abdomen although some are located in the head, neck, and thorax.
- The entire digestive system is located in the abdomen as are the organs that filter and otherwise maintain the blood like the spleen, liver, and kidneys.
- The internal organs in the abdomen require large quantities of blood which means that they're often supplied by dedicated arteries such as the renal, splenic and hepatic arteries.
