Question:

What materials reflect radio waves?

Long Wavelength Waves:

Radio waves are electromagnetic waves that have a wavelength that is longer than infrared light in the electromagnetic spectrum. They are used for long-range communication.

Radio Telescopes:

  • Because radio waves are the longest waves in the electromagnetic spectrum they also require the largest telescopes in order to be able to focus them and collect meaningful data.
  • Because of their large size, the biggest radio telescopes are usually located in depressions in the ground where they can be supported and may measure up to 500 meters in diameter.
