What is a mass action expression?
Question:
What is a mass action expression?
Mass Action Expressions
For any chemical reaction that reaches equilibrium, there will exist a fixed ratio of products to reactants at a given temperature. This fixed ratio, also referred to as an equilibrium constant, indicates the extent to which the forward and reverse reactions occur relative to one another. For a known amount of reactant(s), the equilibrium constant is also used to determine the amount of product(s) that will form.
