What does the phenomenon of photo-electric emission establish?
Question:
What does the phenomenon of photo-electric emission establish?
The Photo-electric Effect
The universe is neatly divided into two compartments by classical physics. One is matter and the other is the field. The matter is regarded to be a collection of discrete point particles. The field is an unbroken continuum. Disturbances in the electromagnetic field propagate in the form of waves and manifest as radiation. While material particles propagate according to Newton's laws, waves in the electromagnetic field evolve according to the classical wave equation.
