Electrolysis:

When electricity is applied in the aqueous solution of the electrolyte, then the ions of electrolytes get dissociated into their opposite ions which are placed at anode and cathode. Cations are found in a cathode while an anion is found in an anode because a cathode has a negative charge and anode has a positive charge.
