Question:
What do the operations challenges facing production/operations managers entail, according to Pycraft,et al (2010)?
How would you recommend these POM challenges or issues be dealt with effectively, given ever increasing competitive markets?
Technology:
Technology can broadly be defined by all of the different areas that impact how we interact with one another and view the world. It is anything from computers, phones, tablets, and any other items that can impact how we communicate and digest news.
Answer and Explanation:
The operations challenges facing production/operations managers (POMs) entail several technology challenges over the next few years. As technology adapts and changes, there are going to be opportunities and threats that POMs must deal with. I would recommend for POMs to face these challenges head on and try to be ahead of the curve when it comes to technology changes. The POMs can't sit back and wait for the technology to change their business, they need to be proactive about adapting and challenging the new changes.
