How did Muslim scholars contribute to the Renaissance?
Question:
How did Muslim scholars contribute to the Renaissance?
The Renaissance
The Renaissance was a cultural and scientific movement that arose in Italy during the 15th and 16th centuries and profoundly affected the development of European arts and technology. The Renaissance was inspired by Greco-Roman culture, and the decentralized, fragmented nature of Italy at the time (which was ruled by a collection of rich and prosperous city states, especially in the north of the region), allowed for governments and individuals to excel in their studies and arts. This period was categorized by Renaissance humanism, in which citizens were expected to improve themselves physically and mentally for the betterment of their city or state, and also that humans possessed an incredible genius that would allow them to reach new heights in reasoning and knowledge. As a result of this period, vast advances in medicine, exploration, literature, history, painting, sculpting, among other fields, were made around Europe, as the Renaissance spread across the continent over the centuries.
