Enzymatic Activity

Enzymes are proteins that are occur abundantly in the body. Enzymes are catalysts which means that they speed up or catalyze chemical reactions by binding to their substrates. They work primarily by lowering the activation energy of chemical reactions in the body. By doing so, enzymes allow different processes such as digestion to take place or to occur at a much faster rate.
