Question:

Describe the composition and function of the nervous tissue.

Tissue:

Tissue can be defined as a group of cells that have the same structure as well as function. The cells in a tissue act as a unit. The different tissues combine to form an organ.

Answer and Explanation: 1

The nervous tissue is comprised of three main parts: nerves, brain, and spinal cord. The main function of the nervous tissue is to receive stimulus from the external environment (like skin experiencing a hot object). Impulses are generated by receptors and sent to the brain via spinal cord nerves. The function of the brain is to send back a response generated as a result of the effect of the stimulus received through nerves.
