Blood is a fluid that carries oxygen and other nutrients throughout the body to the tissues and brings carbon dioxide away from the tissues through the heart and vascular system. Blood also plays a big role in maintaining homeostasis in the body. Blood is considered to be connective tissue with a liquid matrix. Blood is made up of four components: white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets and plasma.
