Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a personality disorder that is characterized by unpredictable behavior, unusual mood swings, impulsivity, low self-esteem, and unstable relationships. Individuals with BPD tend to be very impulsive and are more likely to engage in unhealthy risk taking behavior such as unsafe sex practices, binge-shopping, binge-drinking, drug use and abuse, and even binge-eating. They also have unusual moods that can be described as being perfect fine and happy one minute only to be sad the next minute. It is almost like the individual is riding on an emotional roller coast. They also tend to have low-lows which can result in depression and in severe cases suicide. Individuals with BPD tend to struggle with the fear of abandonment, which means they have tend to have unstable relationships. Because of this fear, individuals with BPD may manipulate a person to keep them from leaving, they may also leave the other person before they are left, and they may even self-sabotage a relationship based upon their perceptions.
